ABOUT NEW HOPE
NEW FAMILY LIFE CENTER
The New Hope Church will break ground for a 13,344 square foot family life center on April 25, 2010. The new construction will connect directily to the east side of our existing church.
The family life center will have a drive through entrance to drop off and pick up people during inclement weather. When you enter the family center you will see an open concept secretary's office to your right and a beautiful sitting area to your left for conversation. By design, the lobby will be a warm and welcoming area.
A focal point in the lobby will be a bronze sculpture of Jesus and two small children. This piece of art will communicate that the new family center is focused upon Jesus Christ and his love for all members of the family. Our text for the new center will be: "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15.
Across from the open secretary's office will be two restrooms with showers. The showers are for people who will use the multipurpose area for recreation and other athletic events.
Also located in the area of the secretary's office will be a large cloke room and an office for our Director of Youth Ministries.
A state of the art kitchen will be located to the left of the lobby space with a serving window to the multiple purpose room and to the lobby area.
The multipurpose area will seat 400 people for contemporary worship, concerts, or drama . There will be space to seat 275 people for banquets. Future dinner theatre productions will be held in the multipurpose area.
The multipurpose area will provide space for volleyball, basketball, areobics, and other forms of recreation. This space will also serve as a walking area for our active senior adults .
One of the goals for the new facility is to provide space for "Upwards Basketball." This ministry will be an outreach oportunity to the families in our community.
There will be an excercise room with equipment for people of the church and community. The plan is to have a mounted television on the wall for people to watch programming while they are doing their exercises. This resource is consistent with our commitment to wholeness.
We will have a large stage for concernts, dinner theatre, and worship. This area will also provide sitting space to watch athletic events. We will also have two large storage areas for chairs, tables, and athletic equipment.
To the right of the multipurpose area will be our "Colonial Room." This will be an area that will be constructed in honor of two outstanding women... Irene Dunn and Ruth Hall. (Ruth Hall died in August, 2009 and we will have this room as a memorial to her life.)
The Colonial Room will have tables and chairs for 64 people. There will be cabinets and a sink area for refreshments. The Colonial Room (decorated with antiques) will be a wonderful atmosphere for larger meetings, educational classes, parties, and other forms of fellowship. This room will have a folding curtain so that the space can be made into two classrooms. Multimedia equipment will be in each room.
Now lets go upstairs. Two stairways in the lobby area will take you up to the youth and young adult area. This large space will have a kitchenette and tables for snacks and fellowship.
The area will have a large television set for education and entertainment for our young people and young adults. There will be a folding curtain down the middle of the large room to have two learning areas when needed, Our middle school young people (grades 6-8) and our senior high school youth (grades 9-12), plus our ministry to young adults, will have fantastic space for learning, fellowship, and worship.
The games in this area could be ping-pong, billiards, air hockey, wii, and other technology games.
Also located on the second floor will be our technology center for the multipurpose area. This tech center will control lighting, sound, and provide space for filming events.
The second floor will also have a restroom and a mechanical room . Two large windows will overlook the multipurpose space.
The contractor for our Family Life Center is Myers Construction Company located north of Bryne, Indiana. The Building Committee has visited two churches constructed by Myers Construction Company. They use many Amish craftsmen in their construction projects and we have been impressed with the qualithy of their work.
The basic contract price for the building is $723,150,00. There will be approximately $100,000 in additional expenses for furniture, decorations, floor coverings, kitchen, technology center, paint and stain.
The church will be responsible for all painting, staining, and installing floor coverings. We will need many volunteers during the final phase of the construction project.
Star Construction from Bippus, Indiana will provide the equipment and labor for the site preparation as a gift to the church. This firm has submitted their site plans with the building plans to the state of Indiana for approval. Clounie Landscaping, Roanoke, will landscape the building as a gift. We appreciate these two companies investing in the furture ministry of the New Hope Church.
At the present time the church has $606,000 in cash and faith commentments toward a goal of $700,000.00. The total project will be in the area of $825,000. We will borrow needed funds from the First Federal Savings Bank of Huntington. It is the goal of the church to pay for the family life center by the end of 2013.
Each year the New Hope Church will have three funding events for the building fund.
When the family life center is completed the present sanctuary will be enlarged by removing the kitchen and nursery. This will enlarge the present sanctuary seating capacity to 200 people. A new technology center will be constructed in the back of the sanctuary which is currently our kitchen space.
The nursery will be moved to the east end of the education wing and will include a children's restroom. Part of the existing nursery will be converted into a cloke room.
The present church library will be moved to the north end of the present fellowship hall. This space will also be used as a classroom. The library, including multimedia resources, has outgrown the present space.
The pastoral offices will be moved to the north side of the present educational wing. The present pastoral offices will be converted into classrooms.
The new family life center, plus the remodeling of the present sanctuary, will greatly enlarge our toolbox to reach our community for Jesus Christ and to serve the community where the church is located.
To God be the glory!
